Court Agrees To Drop Trump’s Stolen Documents Case

A federal appeals court on Tuesday granted special counsel Jack Smith’s bid to end the case against President-elect Donald Trump arising from his alleged mishandling of sensitive government documents, effectively bringing to a close the historic and unprecedented case against the nation’s former and next president.
The U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit said in a brief order that it had granted Smith’s request to dismiss the appeal as to Trump.
The special counsel had asked the Atlanta-based court on Monday to drop his effort to revive the case, citing Trump’s recent victory over Vice President Kamala Harris in the November presidential election and longstanding Justice Department policy that forbids the prosecution of a sitting president.
