Pet Shop Boys reveal true meaning behind gay anthem ‘It’s a Sin’: “Everyone assumes it’s about homosexuality”

I don’t even know why I thought of the lyric in the moment. But of course my history is I was brought up as a Catholic. I went to a Catholic school called St. Cuthbert’s.

We were told that sex was a sin apart from within marriage for the purpose of procreation. That’s pretty hardcore. Otherwise, to coin a phrase, it’s a sin.
