The New York Times reports:

A joint session of Congress is set to convene on Monday afternoon to certify President-elect Donald J. Trump’s victory in the 2024 election, a basic ritual of democracy that was brutally disrupted four years ago by a violent pro-Trump mob inflamed by his lie about a stolen election.

There is no hint of a similar scene this time, although security has been stepped up at the Capitol. Unlike Mr. Trump back then, Vice President Kamala Harris has not disputed her loss in November, and unlike Republicans in the aftermath of the 2020 balloting, Democrats have given no hint that they plan to challenge the counting of the Electoral College votes when lawmakers convene at 1 p.m. Eastern time.
