Alexandra Billings shames The Village People: “The revolutionaries who made queer cool are now making cool dangerous”

Actress and trans campaigner Alexandra Billings has written a very candid and powerful reaction piece to the news that The Village People are set to perform at two inauguration-related events next week. 

The disco band, of which Victor Willis remains the only original member, will play an inauguration ball and a rally Trump is holding on January 19.

If you’re under 50, you likely have no memory of The Village People when they first burst onto the music scene in the late 1970s. Billings remembers it well.
