Trump responds to bishop’s plea to show “mercy” to LGBTQ+ people and migrants

Yesterday, a brave bishop called out President Donald Trump to his face with a stirring sermon.

Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde delivered her words at the inaugural prayer service at Washington’s National Cathedral.

Directly addressing Trump, who sat in the front row alongside his wife, Melania, and Vice President Vance and his wife Usha, Budde said, “Let me make one final plea Mr. President. Millions have put their trust in you and as you told the nation yesterday you have felt the providential hand of a loving God. In the name of our God, I ask you to have mercy upon the people in our country who are scared now.
