Rewind to 1978 and disco queen Donna Summer was at the peak of her commercial fame and success. It was only natural that Hollywood would turn its attention to her, given both her popularity and her own background in musical theatre.
Summer was born in Boston in 1948. In 1968, she relocated to Germany after landing a lead role in its production of the counterculture hit show, Hair. She lived in Germany for several years, acting and working as a backing singer and becoming friends with the likes of iconic producer Giorgio Moroder.
Moroder went on to write and produce Summer’s breakthrough hits, including 1976’s “Love To Love You Baby” and 1977’s “I Feel Love.”
