LIVE VIDEO: Trump Unveils “Liberation Day” Tariffs

The Washington Post reports:

Senate Republicans — like investors and foreign governments — are nervously waiting for President Donald Trump to detail a new round of tariffs in a 4 p.m. speech at the White House.

Trump has described the announcement for weeks as “Liberation Day,” but many Republican senators have expressed at least some concern about the tariffs’ impact on the economy and the uncertainty about which industries and countries they will target.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent had lunch with Republican senators at the Capitol on Wednesday, but senators said Bessent did not lay out what tariffs Trump would announce, leaving them waiting for details. Asked for details about the announcement as he left the Capitol, Bessent said only, “4 p.m.!”
