Afro-Dominican writer Alejandro Heredia’s debut novel, Loca, has captured readers with its exploration of queer Dominican identity through a story that blends humor, self-discovery, and the power of nostalgia.
Predominantly set in New York City, the book follows the coming-of-age story of Sal and Charro, two best friends who relocate from the Dominican Republic to New York City in 1999. And just weeks after its release, the novel has already received glowing reviews for its touching tale and moving characters.
