Organizers of the annual White House Correspondents’ Dinner announced in February that queer comic Amber Ruffin would appear at this year’s event on April 26. On Saturday, they announced they’d changed their mind.

In a memo sent to members, the President of the White House Correspondents’ Association (WHCA), Eugene Daniels, said they decided to shift the focus from “the politics of division”.

“The WHCA board has unanimously decided we are no longer featuring a comedic performance this year,” he said.
