Basketball legend Diana Taurasi says people are finally–finally!–catching onto the WNBA: “We’ve always been ahead of the curve”
Diana Taurasi is the GOAT.
The top scorer in WNBA history, she’s a 6-time gold medalist and 3-time champion, and still at the top of her game in her early 40s. Along with Phoenix Mercury teammate Brittney Griner, Taurasi is one of many out WNBA superstars, serving as an inspiration for queer sports fans everywhere.
While women’s sports are now friendly terrain for LGBTQ+ athletes, it wasn’t always that way. Tennis great Martina Navratilova estimates she lost $10 million in endorsements after she was outed in 1981, while Billie Jean King says she lost all of her endorsements in just 24 hours.
How about we take this to the next level?
