Elise Stefanik is heading back to Congress with no role to play. Previously just a party-line vote away from becoming U.N. Ambassador, the scorned MAGA queen is now nothing more than a rubber stamp.

The White House’s decision to pluck a number of Republicans from Congress for cabinet positions was always curious, given the GOP’s slim margins in the House. They only hold a four-vote margin today, despite two Democratic members dying since January (a fitting metaphor for the current political moment, if we say so ourselves).
