‘Extremely wet performer’ Jonathan Groff channels ’50s crooner Bobby Darin in his latest role
Straight off of last season’s hit revival of Merrily We Roll Along and his new rom-com, A Nice Indian Boy, Jonathan Groff is back on Broadway, and some lucky audience members will have the chance to dance with him. Dreams really do come true.
Groff stars in Just in Time, a biomusical about crooner Bobby Darin. Born in New York City in 1936, Darin’s career took off in the late 50s with hits like “Splish Splash,” “Beyond the Sea,” and “Dream Lover.” He reluctantly recorded Kurt Weil’s “Mack the Knife,” winning two Grammy Awards (one for the song, and a second as Best New Artist of 1959).
