The producers of an opera version of Fellow Travelers have decided to pull a forthcoming run of shows scheduled at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC. They say it follows the Tr*mp takeover of the institution.
The opera and the hit Fellow Travelers TV show (the latter starring Matt Bomer and Jonathan Bailey), are based on the 2007 Thomas Mallon novel of the same name. It centers on a love affair between two men that originated during the ‘Lavender Scare’ witch-hunt years of the 1950s.
Deadline confirmed the show’s withdrawal, via a statement it obtained from Tim O’Leary and Francesca Zambello, Washington National Opera General Director and Artistic Director, respectively.
