It was the rowdiest winter party in London, and Huw Ware was right at the center of the action. The native Welshman was officiating the PDC World Darts Championship final, in front of thousands of beer-soaked, costume-wearing revelers at iconic Alexandra Palace.

The star of the day was Luke Littler, the 17-year-old phenom who became the youngest World Darts champion in history with his incredible performance last Friday. But Ware, who counted up all of Littler’s points in real time, wasn’t too far behind.

With his role in the final, Ware became the first out gay man to officiate a World Darts championship match. He shared his story with Outsports, and has been on a media tour ever since.
