Amid the devastating loss due to the Southern California wildfires this past week, the catastrophe serves as a necessary reminder that our firefighters are true heroes who deserve our recognition and respect, putting their own lives on the line every day in order to keep us safe.
One such hero is Los Angeles’ first out lesbian Fire Chief Kristin Crowley, an accomplished first-responder who has been admirably leading the charge in containing the destructive Palisades Fire (despite what conservative homophobes are saying, wanting you to believe she was an under-qualified “DEI hire”).
Though Chief Crowley was a first for LA, she’s not the only LGBTQ+ firefighter out there—far from it!
