During his campaign, Trump indicated that he would consider pardoning individuals convicted for their roles in the Jan. 6 attack. For Aquilino Gonell and Harry Dunn, who have participated in legal proceedings against some rioters, this pledge raises concerns about the broader implications for accountability.

“They broke the law, violated police officers, attacked us, and then went back and said we did it in the name of Donald Trump,” Dunn said. “And then Donald Trump is going to pardon them and say it’s okay, all is forgiven.”
