Jeffery Self dishes on ‘Self-Sabotage,’ his childhood celebrity pen pal & surviving those ‘Casserole days’

Pretty much every gay who’s ever gone viral for posting something funny on the internet has two people to thank for paving the way: Jeffery Self and Cole Escola.
Back during YouTube’s infancy, the two friends and collaborators broke through the noise with hilarious self-made sketches under the name VGL (Very Good Looking) Gay Boys, which eventually caught the attention of executives at Logo. The LGBTQ+ focused network commissioned the pair to do more of the same—with (slightly) more budget—for their own original sketch series Jeffery & Cole Casserole. The rest is history.
Since then, both have built multi-faceted careers off their early internet success—perhaps you’ve heard of Escola’s Oh, Mary! which has made them the belle of Broadway?
