Joseph Beam tribute anthology ‘Black Gay Genius’ celebrates 10th Anniversary

In celebration of the 10th anniversary of Black Gay Genius: Answering Joseph Beam’s Call, the groundbreaking anthology is now available for free download. Originally published in tribute to the late writer and activist Joseph Beam, the collection features essays, poetry, personal narratives, and interviews that honor the Black gay arts movement of the 1980s.

Conceived by editors Charles Stephens and Steven G. Fullwood, Black Gay Genius honors Beam’s impact and his revolutionary literary works. With Beam as its guiding inspiration, the anthology also aspires to empower future generations of Black queer creatives, uplifting the voices of Black gay men whose activism and artistry continues to shape culture today.
