Kansas Catholic School Rejects Kindergartner, Quickly Faces Backlash
St. Ann Catholic Church and School, located in Prairie Village, Kansas recently decided to not allow a kindergarten-age child into their school because the child has same-sex parents, but over 1,000 people have signed a petition that urges the school’s administration to reverse the decision, according to the New York Times.
This decision came about because the school believes that same-sex marriages “cannot model behaviors and attitudes regarding marriage and sexual morality consistent with essential components of the Church’s teachings” and that if they accepted the student with same-sex parents it would create “a conflict for their children between what they are taught in school and what is experienced at home.” Translation: We wouldn’t want this child to be confused by the homophobia we teach because they were probably
