Saturday Night Live alum Kyle Mooney’s clever new horror-comedy Y2K imagines what would happen if our worst turn-of-the-millennium fears came true.
When the clock strikes midnight and the calendar changes to January 1, 2000, the tech apocalypse begins, and suddenly it’s up to a rag-tag group of teens to save the world from total robot takeover.
As Ash, a teen with a totally late-’90s love of Nu Metal music, Lachlan Watson plays one of our unlikely heroes. And, sure, they may not have any memory of the real “Y2K” era—Watson was born in 2001, after all—but it’s clear they’ve done their homework, eager to do justice to our (very recent) history.
