Manchester United ditches its entire Pride effort after one lone player throws a hissy fit over rainbows
In each of the past two seasons, arguably the most famous soccer team in the world has worn Pride-themed warmup jerseys and jackets during the Premier League’s Rainbow Laces campaign.
But this year, the Manchester United opted to abandon their new tradition, due to one player’s refusal to participate.
The Athletic’s Adam Crafton reports United defender Noussair Mazraoui told teammates he didn’t plan to wear the outfit, citing his Muslim faith. “The team then decided that no players would wear the tracksuit so that Mazraoui would not be the only one seen publicly to be refusing to wear it,” Crafton writes.
How about we take this to the next level?
