Meet Sofia Camacho Ferral, the subversive drag artist who just dominated the NYC Marathon

At least there is the winner of one race this week who we can feel good about. Sofia Camacho Ferral is an out transgender and nonbinary drag artist… and they just won the nonbinary division of the New York City Marathon!

Ferral crossed the finish line in just 2 hours and 31 minutes, making them the fourth ever winner of the nonbinary division. Though Ferral didn’t expect to run a flawless race, they can’t lie: they had their eye on a medal!

“I wasn’t planning to run 2:31—that was more of a surprise—but I was kind of trying to snag a win,” Ferral told Gay City News.
