The streamer MUBI says it has scrapped a film festival due to take place in Turkey this weekend. The decision was made after authorities said the streamer could not screen the new movie, Queer.
The acclaimed film comes from Italian director Luca Guadagnino (Call Me By Your Name, Challengers). It’s based on a semi-autobiographical book by cult author William S. Burroughs.
James Bond star Daniel Craig plays (William Tell), a man who embarks on a passionate, physical relationship with a younger man, Eugene Allerton (Starkey) in 1950s Mexico City. When it premiered at the Venice Film Festival a few weeks ago, it received a nine-minute standing ovation from the audience.
