NY Judge Removed Over Same-Sex Marriage Refusal

The administrative judge in Syracuse is removing Judge Felicia Pitts Davis from her role overseeing the Human Trafficking Intervention Court, linked with her alleged refusal to approve the marriage of two women, according to Onondaga County District Attorney Bill Fitzpatrick.
On Nov. 16, Pitts Davis performed the wedding for a heterosexual couple before walking out of the room when it was time for two women to be wed. The couple, Shawntay and Nicorra Davis, said that it was an odd situation, one that made them feel small. Another judge had to come into the courtroom to ensure they went home as a happily married couple.
Fitzpatrick said Pitts Davis’ actions fit the definition for “bigotry” following a Grand Jury meeting with Shawntay and Nicorra. He is concerned
