The Washington Post reports:

The Senate has voted 62-38 to advance a measure Friday to extend federal funding levels through September and avert a government shutdown set to begin just after midnight.

The Senate will now vote on three Democratic amendments offered by Sens. Jeff Merkley (Oregon), Tammy Duckworth (Illinois) and Chris Van Hollen (Maryland). All three of those measures will need 60 votes to pass, and each will fail.

The Senate will next vote on an amendment from Sen. Rand Paul (R-Kentucky) that will need a simple majority to pass. It, too, will likely fail. The Senate will then vote on final passage of the government funding bill, bypassing the 30 hours of required debate. This needs a simple majority vote to succeed.
