The Sundance Film Festival could be on the verge of quitting Utah. Launched by actor Robert Redford 40 years ago, Sundance is one of the most-revered movie festivals in the world and the largest independent film festival in the United States.

However, over the last couple of years, organizers have been wrestling with where to hold the festival after its ten-year contract with Park City expires after the 2026 event. Sundance has always taken place in Utah.

Up until now, Utah remains a strong contender for the January event. However, organizers have also been wooed by bids from Boulder, Colorado, and Cincinnati. An announcement is due at the end of April.
