After 133 years, New York’s iconic Russian and Turkish baths in the East Village are still a part of city lore. Located at the bottom of a landmark tenement, the bathhouse used to play host to tens of thousands of immigrants living in the overcrowded housing, before indoor plumbing and hot water were widespread.
