Welcome back to our queer film retrospective, “A Gay Old Time.” In this week’s column, let’s revisit 1983’s Streamers, an oft-forgotten war drama from revered auteur Robert Altman.
This weekend sees the release of the A24 war drama Warfare, starring a cavalcade of hunky young actors playing a platoon of American SEALS stationed overseas in 2016. While the cast keeps busy with publicity stunts in support of the film (from on-screen kisses to matching tattoos), we’ll take a look at another film centered around young soldiers huddling together, and the toll the military complex takes on their mental and physical well-being.
