Timing is everything: 5 Broadway musical moments that haven’t aged so well

Don’t we all have such optimism when snuggling into a dark theatre for a couple of hours of thrilling escapism? We pray for the best. But timing is everything. 

Upon reflection, productions that once resonated sometimes appear dusty upon further inspection, as if the costume shop needed an industrial-size bottle of Febreeze to refresh. Or our collective conscience has shifted the dial toward a more nuanced understanding of gender roles, relationships, or race.
