Trump: Canada And The United States Will Become “Beautiful Formation” When I Erase “Artificial” Border

The New York Times reports:

President Trump escalated his fight with Canada on Tuesday, threatening to double tariffs on steel and aluminum imports and pressing to turn one of America’s closest traditional allies into the 51st state. After several tense hours, both sides backed down, at least for now.

Mr. Trump this morning posted that “the only thing that makes sense” is for Canada to become the 51st U.S. state. The president reiterated those comments Tuesday afternoon, saying that Canada would no longer have a tariff problem if it became part of the United States.
