Was Cary Grant gay? Exploring the many myths and rumours about the Hollywood star

The 2023 ITV mini series Archie explores the life of English-American actor Cary Grant, one of Hollywood’s greats, and delves into long-standing rumours that the star was bisexual – or even gay.

Starring Jason Isaacs as Grant, whose real name was Archie Leach, the four-part series explores his rise to fame, as well as his relationship with ex-wife Dyan Cannon and their daughter Jennifer.

In an interview with the Evening Standard, Isaacs said that the show’s creator and writer, Jeff Pope, didn’t want to explore the rumours about Cary Grant’s sexuality, but Isaacs insisted that they needed to be included.
