Washington bishop pleas with Trump to ‘have mercy’ on ‘scared’ LGBTQ+ children

Right Rev. Mariann Budde, the Episcopal bishop of Washington, has ruffled feathers in the Trump administration after she used her homily to appeal to the president to have mercy on the LGBTQ+ community.
Addressing Trump, who sat in attendance, at an inaugural prayer service sermon at the Washington National Cathedral, the reverend said: “There are gay, lesbian and transgender children in Democratic, Republican and independent families, some who fear for their lives.”
