Wisconsin’s supreme court isn’t the state’s only big pro-LGBTQ+ win this week

Wisconsites (along with the rest of the country) are breathing a sigh of relief after circuit judge Susan Crawford won a seat on the state’s Supreme Court, securing a 10-year appointment, which will hopefully weather the Orange Monster’s second term and maintain a 4-3 liberal advantage as women’s reproductive rights and congressional maps appear on the docket.
But Crawford wasn’t the only one to pull off a much-needed win.
Shaundel Washington-Spivey was elected La Crosse, Wisconsin’s first openly gay Black mayor, winning by 2.55% over city council president Chris Kahlow.
